Amman's odeum

Amman Odeum is an antique odeum in the Jordanian capital of Amman.

The odeum became n.Chr. in the 2nd century. built during the reign of Emperor Antoninus Pius. In addition to the odeum, a Roman theater was simultaneously built. The smaller odeum was used more for singing and music performances. To protect spectators from the hot sun, a big sail or wooden hood could be placed over the stands.

The building has been partially restored and now accommodates 500 spectators. Regular music shows are held.
