Funcionários is an ancient quarter of Belo Horizonte. It was envisaged by Aarro Reis's city-building project, which was the urban area reserved for public officials (hence the name) that would be established for work in the new capital.
Their eclectic eclectic homes were different in size, typology and luxury depending on the prestige of the office. Today, they are gradually demolished or aggregated to buildings under construction, typically residential.
