Evening (Moody Blues)

Evening is the title of a combination of two songs from the Moody Blues. It is the sixth track of their album Days of Future Passed. Days of Future Passed gives a schedule of everyday and evening is indicated the evening. Evening is preceded by the song (Evening) Time to get away and consists of a The sun set

The sun set, sometimes spelled as The Sunset, is Mike Pinder's second contribution to this album. The song has an Oriental / Indian character by the combination of singing and percussion in the beginning. Also the flute in relation to the mellotron / orchestra gives it a mystical character. In the original version there was also room for the piano, but it was removed at the later mix in 1978. The song is from Pinder himself and decides with "And the world still goes on, throught the night". There is also a version included without orchestra. Twilight time

After a short intermezzo, there is a rock song from Ray Thomas, which has a bass sound like the older songs of the Moodies. The singing here is unlike most of the Moodies' monotonous, like a kind of drone. In this song is also the driving rhythm of the other Thomas songs. The repetition of the same notes and rhythms would also be used by Thomas in the next album In Search of the Lost Chord. Opposite the rock character of the music is a dreamy text: "In twilight time: dream with me a while".
