Plaza de la Republica

Plaça de la República is a square in the Spanish city of Barcelona, officially regarded as the center of the Nou Barris district. It is the crossroads of three lanes: Passeig de Valldaura, Passeig de Verdum and Via Júlia. This square is also the boundary between four neighborhoods of the district: Guineueta, Prosperitat, Porta and Verdum.

The square is a large roundabout with in the middle, since 1990, a 30 meter high metal monument made by Josep Viladomat. The monument was made in the 1930s, called La República, and contains the image of Francesc Pi i Margall. This monument was intended for the more famous Passeig de Gràcia and Avinguda Diagonal crossing, now a monument from the Franco era. The square is Llucmajor metro station. Externe link
