The falcon Verfolne on the head of Vidofnir depicted in an Icelandic handwriting from the seventeenth century (AM 738 4to).
Vidofnir (of Viðofnir) is in the northern mythology of Fjölsvinnsmál a golden bird (rooster, falcon or eagle) that is high in the tree of Mímameğr and never leaves it. This tree is often equal to Yggdrasil, the world tree that carries the universe in its branches. The bird is once exclaimed by the dragon Nidhogg. Those bad words give a squirrel called the Ratatosk by Vidofnir. This answers a bad word that transfers the squirrel.
The hawk or falcon Vêrfolne (Veðfölnir) sits on the head of Vidofnir between his eyes.
Vidofnir will ever announce Ragnarok, the final battle of the gods. Also see
