Waššukanni (also Washshukanni) was the capital of the kingdom of Mitanni, flourished around the 15th century BC. Although known by many texts, the site has not yet been identified: currently the most affirmative hypothesis identifies at Tell Fekheriye, a site located in the Khabur River Basin in Syria.
The city developed for about two centuries; of its history, two events are mainly known: the plundering perpetrated by the Hippocratic troops of Šuppiluliuma I, who, after conquering the city, put on the Shattiwaza throne and a second plunder carried out by Assad king Adad-iirar I around 1290 BC.
