Wim Letschert

W.A. (Wim) Letschert (Bolsward, March 24, 1954 - Geertruidenberg, October 27, 1999) was a Dutch politician of D66.

He was born as son of Henk Letschert, then city councilor in Bolsward and later for the KVP / CDA First Kamerlid (1968-1980) and mayor of among others Tilburg (1975-1988). Wim Letschert also became politically active but then as D66'er. Since 1987 he was the mayor of Esch and in 1993 he became acting mayor of Geertruidenberg. On January 1, 1996, Esch joined the municipality of Haaren. At the municipal reorganization of North Brabant on January 1, 1997, Geertruidenberg and Raamsdonk merged into the new municipality of Geertruidenberg, of which he became the mayor of the Crown. At the end of 1999, he died suddenly at the age of 45, possibly with a cardiac arrest.

At the end of 2007 a new bridge (the Wim Letschert bridge) that connects Raamsdonksveer with Geertruidenberg was officially opened by his widow and two children.
