Causa Finalis is a concept of metaphysics; and is translated from Latin as Objective: causa = cause; finalis = the goal involved. We can define it as the goal of something, which was also a root cause. Some analogues are found in the teleological ethics or in the history philosophy of Hegel and Marx, in which the purpose (telos) of an act or of history is considered important in its consideration and explanation.
For Aristotle, metaphysics was the science of the first principles and causes. His main findings and problems in his scientific works were linked to the phenomenon of change and movement, or to the conversion of act into potential and vice versa. Aristotle developed a theory of causality, commonly known as the Doctrine of the Four Causes. For Aristotle, understanding was what causes and how many causes are essential for successful research into the world around us and to our own person.
