III. Marineflakbrigade


The III. Marine Navy Brigade was a German military unit in World War II. The unit was founded on May 1, 1942, from parts of the 24 Marine Navy Regiment. During its entire existence, it was stationed in Brest, where it was mainly responsible for the protection of the port against air attacks. In September 1944 the unit was lifted.

On August 7, 1944, the unit committed a war crime by killing 42 people in the French village of Gouesnou.
