Allibaggio

Allibaggio is an operation widespread with the introduction in the nineteenth century of steam boats too large to enter some ports, cause the draft, which prevented them from accessing, in this case the bailout was necessary to reduce the draft. This method is mainly used in the oil sector and is implemented with both bettoline and lower tanker tankers. These floating operations carried out by tanker vessels, in particular VLCCs, generally take place at a distance from the coast between 20 and 60 nautical miles and can be done either to the bottom, to the drift or to the move. The product is transferred using special reinforced rubber tubes (sleeves) that connect the largest vessel to the smaller vessel. Special fenders Yokohama fenders are used to separate the two ships and avoid damage during cargo transfer.
