The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia represents the crown in Australia.

Australia is a constitutional monarchy and part of the British Commonwealth with Elizabeth II as head of state. The Governor-General is nominated by the Monarch on behalf of the Australian Prime Minister. He or she is the highest executive in Australia.

The Governor General's functions and roles include appointing ambassadors, ministers and judges, enrollment of elections and the granting of royal appointments.
