Hermitage of Our Lady of the Beech


The hermitage of the Madonna del Faggio is a sacred building that is located in Cercetole, Pieve Santo Stefano, province of Arezzo, Tuscany.

The hermitage was built in the 15th century where, according to tradition, Madonna had appeared to a shepherdess in 1400. The church, in small size, resumes a recurring typology in the ecclesiastical mountainous buildings of the Tuscan- Romanesque: rectangular single-colonnade plant, hut roof, and advanced facade to arch facade façade.
