Jan Engelbart Sanders van Well


Jan Engelbart Sanders van Well (Nijmegen, July 1739 - April 6, 1814) was a Dutch mayor and member of the Second National Assembly, the Constituent Assembly and the Representative Body at the time of the Batavian Republic.

Sanders van Well worked as an attorney and notary in Nijmegen. There he also became ships and deputies of the Kingdom of Nijmegen. From November 15, 1794, he was Mayor of Nijmegen (one in five), and from 1795 as an ambtman and richter of the empire of Nijmegen.

He was a member of the Second National Assembly for the District of Doesburg from 5 September 1797 to 22 January 1798 and from the February 7, 1798 to 4 May 1798, member of the Constituent Assembly. Subsequently, he joined the Second Chamber of the Representative Body until June 12, 1798. Sanders of Well belonged to the unitarians. From 20 January 1808 to 1809 he was once again Mayor in Nijmegen, after which he again worked as a notary. He was also steward of various church domains.
