Johannes de Doperkerk (Oosteind)

Johannes de Doperkerk

The Johannes de Doperkerk is a church building in eastern Europe.

In 1846, the people expressed their wish to set up their own parish. Before that one went to church in Oosterhout or Dongen. The new parish was separated from that of Oosterhout in 1852 and in 1853 the new church was dedicated to the design of P.J. Soffers. It was a neo-classical neoclassic-style church with a simple, three-point needle pointing tower.

In 1925 the church was demolished, keeping the tower intact. A new church was built, a three-legged blind-basil church with a monotonous choir and a three-sided apsis. For the church stands a Sacred Heart Picture from 1927.

The organ dates back to 1860 and was built by the Van der Aa Oosterhouts Gebroeders. Also see External source 51° 38′ 42″ NB, 4° 54′ 4″ OL
