Sine-Saloum

Delta of the Saloum

Sine-Saloum is a 180,000 hectare nature reserve in Senegal. It is located north of Gambia, about 100 kilometers from Dakar. Within the area is the National Park of the Saloum Delta.

The area is a delta where two rivers meet: the Sine and the Saloum. In addition, there were two rival kingdoms of the Sérères, also called Sine and Saloum.

The main economic activity is the fishing and production of fishing boats. In recent years, the salt level of the water has increased due to poor management of the rivers. This eliminates the mangroves and various types of freshwater fish.

In Sine-Saloum, many migratory birds come from Europe. The area is being energized. Salads in Sine-Saloum
