Terminal hair is the designation for developed hair, which is generally longer, firmer, thicker and darker than the shorter and thinner skin hair. It can be found on the head, face, armpits and pubic area and is between 0.05 and 0.1 millimeter thick.
Terminal hair has a sebaceous gland as opposed to vellushaar. Under certain conditions, including puberty, the skin of the skin changes in terminal body hair. These include shame, leg, belly and chest hair. In other cases, such as baldness in men, the terminal redisplays hair in velvety hair.
