Bruno Captain


Bruno Richard Hauptmann (Kamenz, November 26, 1899 - Trenton, April 3, 1936) was a German criminal who was known to have been sentenced to death as he was charged with kidnapping Charles Lindbergh's son.

He entered the United States in 1923, after being escorted by a German prison. In 1934 he was arrested for kidnapping Charles Augustus Lindbergh Jr. in 1932.

Anthony Hopkins played Hauptmann in the TV movie Lindbergh Case (The Lindbergh Kidnapping Case) (1976).

In 1996 his character was represented by Stephen Rea in HBO Crime of the Century.

Damon Herriman played Hauptmann in the film by Clint Eastwood J. Edgar (2011).
