Sarat Chandra Sinha
Sarat Chandra Sinha (Chapar, January 1, 1914 - Guwahati, December 25, 2005) was an Indian politician, Chief of Government of Assam and a leader of the Indian National Congress, the Indian National Congress Socialist) and the Nationalist Congress Party. It was a Gandhian.
He was born in 1914 in a poor family in the village of Bhakatpara, Chapar, in Assam. After attending primary school in his village, he moved to Bilasipara, 25km from home, to attend high school. After graduating (bachelor) at Cotton College in Guwahati, she continued her studies at Banaras Hindu University, graduating in law.
In 1946 he began his political career, with the election at the Assam State Assembly. In 1972, he was appointed interim chief minister by Indira Gandhi and then elected head of the Assam government, which he held until 1978. He later became a member of the Indian National Congress (Party of which he was elected president in 1987 Finally he joined the Nationalist Congress Party.
