In the 70's and 80's, Ke Keurs was part of a movement that wanted to make nature protection more social. He opposed what he called the absolute nature conservationists who were insufficiently concerned about the social consequences of nature conservation wishes. He had an eye for the social necessity of some interventions but fought them vigorously if this social need could not be demonstrated. Thus, he was aging against the channeling of streams in Twente, the construction of highways in South Holland, such as Leiden and Delft and against certain forms of rationalization in agriculture. He sought solutions to get out of the polarized relationship between nature conservationists and farmers. In his opinion, agriculture had to change in such a way that it became an integrated character, leading to production and healthy food and rich nature and a beautiful landscape. he made and is part of various work and action groups, such as the Environmental Management Team Working Group and the Foundation Conservation City, Nature and Landscape Rhine. Publications
