Sisters of Love of Our Lady, Mother of Mercy


The Sisters of Love of Our Lady, Mother of Mercy (Latin Name: Sorores Caritatis Matris Misericordiae, SCMM), also known as the Tilburg Sisters, is a Catholic congregation founded in Tilburg in 1832 by Joannes Zwijsen, the then pastor of the Heikese church in Tilburg.

The sisters undertake education, sickness and elderly care, pastoral care and social work. This work was also done in mission areas. Nowadays, they embark on parish work, pastoral care, terminal care and care for detainees and refugees.

Many sisters are buried or joined in a crypt at the chapel at St. Barbara's Cemetery in Utrecht. Literature
