Vase

Two Amsterdammertjes

A vase, Amsterdammer, Rotterdammer, bucket or boerke is a tapered beer glass. It is used for pils and other low alcohol alcoholic beverages. There are different sizes like 23 cl, 25 cl, 30 cl and 33 cl.

Unlike the tulip glass there is no vaulted top edge, but the glass slopes downwards from the top to the bottom. Furthermore, it distinguishes itself from other tapered beer glasses because it is not provided with vertical ribs in the lower part, as is usually the case in Belgian cafes.

In Flanders, this glass is called a boerke, and in Limburg a rendier, referring to the gold-colored edge that is common with these glasses.
