André de Cock


André de Cock (July 12, 1880 - July 28, 1964) was a Belgian philatelist.

He was a wealthy, civilian family and studied in Bonn. In Belgium he became a peace judge. He also served as secretary of the Ghent section of the Belgian Red Cross from 1907 to 1919. In 1919 he became Secretary of State of Maurice August Lippens, Governor-General of Belgium-Congo (1919-1921). When this minister became from Post Office, De Cock belonged to his personal staff. The Cock became the first conservator of the Belgian postal museum, founded in 1936.

The Cock has published a lot about the philately. He was a connoisseur of the post-Belgian history of Belgium-Congo. At exhibitions his collection of many gold medals was won. Externe link
