FC Hedera Millen

FC Hedera Millen was a Belgian football club from Millen. The club was affiliated with the KBVB with trunk number 5708. The club played a few seasons in the national series before joining KSK Tongeren in 2006. History

The club was founded in 1953 in Herderen as Football Club Herderen. In 1957 the name was changed to FC Hedra Herderen. Shepherds performed in the provincial series, where they continued to play for the next half century.

After a title in Second Provincial, the club went to First Provincial in 1996. In 1999, the club returned to the Second Provincial and it was decided in 2000 to meet Millen VV, from the neighboring Millen. Millen VV joined the Belgian Football Association in 1938 with number 2617 and played in the same provincial series as Herderen. The merger club was called FC Hedera Millen and continued with trunk number 5708.

Hedera Millen immediately won his series in Second Provincial and promoted to First Provincial. That was a good thing. The club became second in the first season, finishing a place in the final, but there was no success. A season later, it did get well. Hedera Millen became champion and pushed for the first time to the national series in 2003.

Also there, the club in fourth grade continued on that elan and finished the first season in second place. Hedera Millen had to go to the final but there was Londerzeel SK too strong. The next season (2004/05) was also included in the title. Hedera Millen finished the season in a shared first place with KESK Leopoldsburg. A test match on the field of KVV Verbroedering Maasmechelen had to decide who became a champion. Millen lost the match after penalty kick and grabbed it next to the title. One could still get to the final, but lost to RRFC Montegnée.

The third season in Fourth Class went less successful than the previous one. Millen finally ended in 2006 as a last resort in a demolition place. In the end, it was decided to go together with KSK Tongeren in 2006. Tongeren was connected to the football federation with tribal number 54 and played in Third Class. One further played under this trunk number, and Hedera Millen's trunk number 5708 disappeared definitively.

Not everyone could take peace and soon a new club, FC Herderen, was set up. That club joined the Belgian Football Federation with the number 9494 and started in the lowest provincial series.
