M-frigates maintenance program

The M-Frigate Maintenance Program (IPM) is a program of the Royal Navy and Belgian Navy, whose implementation began on August 16, 2010. In this program, the four M-frigates are employed by the Royal Navy and Belgian Navy (with Mr. Ms. Van Speijk first) provided with a lot of new installations. Through a DMP procedure, Defense has made plans and tested by the Lower House in the period 2002-2008. In the IPM, many installations that no longer meet (in environmental legislation or in operational conditions) are replaced. After implementing the IPM program, frigates must be fully operational until 2020, not only in ocean waters but also in coastal waters and in the highest violence spectrum.

In the IPM, the radar system is expanded with a Seastar radar, for which the mast of the ship is replaced by a new construction. In addition, the military computer system is replaced by a new system with much greater processing speed, the refrigeration system for electronic equipment is adapted to the new environmental requirements, the helicopter deck extended to use the NH-90 helicopter and some communication equipment is replaced.
