Paraspadella schizoptera is a species in the taxonomic classification of the arrowworms. The worm is oblong (torpedo-shaped) and covered with a cuticle. The body consists of a head, a body and a tail. At the sides of the head are some hook-shaped spines that enclose the mouth and serve as a gripping member for prey. Furthermore, the arrowworm is carnivore.
The animal belongs to the genus Paraspadella and belongs to the Spadellidae family. The scientific name of the species was published for the first time in 1895 by Conant.
