Tuinwijck (Groningen)

Garden house with lawn and ornamental garden at Tuinwijck (2005)

Tuinwijck is a folk-garden complex in the city of Groningen. The area with mainly ornamental gardens is located on the edge of the southeastern Coendersborg district, between the Helperzoom and the Meppel - Groningen railway line. It is over 6 acres.

Tuinwijck was founded by industrial Jan Evert Scholten in 1913, making it one of the oldest allotment societies in the Netherlands. Tuinwijck's goal is to sustain sustainable and environmentally friendly gardening, which resulted in the fact that it was the first allotment association to be awarded the National Labeling of Natural Gardening. There are a mushroom pool, a butterfly garden, a playground, an association building and a shop. Externe link 53° 12′ NB, 6° 36′ OL
