The Antonius Abt Church is the former parish church of New Borgvliet, located on Rembrandtstraat 52. History
Population growth caused the need for an independent parish in New Borgvliet. This was founded in 1864 by divestment of the Maria-Hemelopeningparochie in Bergen op Zoom. In 1865 a simple church was designed, designed by P.J. Soffers. As the population continued to grow, this church became too small. In 1929 a new church was built, which was initiated in 1930. The three-legged basilica was designed by Wolter te Riele. The church had a front tower, which was blown up by the Germans in 1944. Thus the church was destroyed.
The church was rebuilt in basilica style and architect was J. de Lint. The church was initiated in 1951 and served until 2000, upon which it was taken out of worship. Initially threatened demolition, but the building eventually became a neighborhood center, opened in 2004. Sources 51° 28′ 39″ NB, 4° 18′ 20″ OL
