BMW R10 Prototype

The BMW R 10 is a prototype of a light motorcycle of the BMW brand.

The R10 was developed shortly after World War II. It was a very light motorcycle, with a 100cc two-stroke two-stroke engine. Since the Flink of 1920, it was the first two-stroke that BMW built. Probably the limitation imposed by the Allies was the basis for development. BMW should not produce any "heavy" motorcycles. Possibly, the two-stroke engine was also developed to serve as a starter engine for airplane engines, thus making the development profitable. Until production of the R 10 it never came. In the early 1950s, scooters with the name R 10 were developed (the BMW R10 Roller). These had four-stroke engines.
