Carlos Rojas González (Facatativá, 9 November 1933) is a Colombian painter and sculptor.

Life and work

Rojas was born in Facatativá in the department of Cundinamarca. He studied from 1953 to 1956 architecture at Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá and in the evening art at the Universidad Nacional de Bogotá, both in the Colombian capital Bogotá. Rojas exhibited in Colombia since 1957. He studied in Rome in 1958 with a trade fair in Rome at the Accademia di Belli Arti di Roma and applied art and design at the Instituto della Arti del Disegno. Subsequently he made a long journey through Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. He traveled to Canada through Canada. He visited New York and lived for some time in Washington, where he became acquainted with the popart and work of Mark Rothko. After returning to Colombia, he taught several art courses.

In 1958, Rojas took part in the Venice Biënnale on behalf of Colombia, as well as in 1982. In 1973 he was invited to the Biennale of São Paulo. Rojas exhibited in North and South America, Europe and Japan. His work is included in the collection of the Museo de Bellas Artes de Caracas in Venezuela. Literature Also see Externe link
