Georg Gottfried Gervinus

First edition (July 1, 1847) by Deutsche Zeitung, a liberal newspaper founded by Gervinus. Georg Gottfried Gervinus (Darmstadt, May 20, 1805 - Heidelberg, March 18, 1871) was a German politician and literary and political historian. He belonged to the Göttinger Sieben, who protested in 1837 against the abolition of the freed constitution of 1833 in the kingdom of Hanover and therefore were fired and partially banned.

He studied at the University of Giessen in 1825 and in 1826 to Heidelberg, where he followed the colleges of historian Friedrich Christoph Schlosser. This became his great example. In 1828 he became a teacher at a private school in Frankfurt am Main and two years later private lecturer in Heidelberg. Work
