Joop Ride Master of the Camp

Joop Ride Master (1966)

Josephus Anthonius (Joop) Ritmeester van de Kamp (Amsterdam, 13 December 1920 - Hilversum, July 24, 2005) was a Dutch businessman. From 1965 to 1974 he was director of the KLM under Gerrit van der Wal.

Rhythm of the Camp studied Economics at the University of Amsterdam. Prior to joining KLM, he was, among other things, Director General of IBM Netherlands. Upon request, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of KLM, and former Prime Minister De Quay, transferred to the KLM management. He was then made the promise that he would succeed at the time of President Van der Wal's president. However, this lasted longer and eventually became Orlandini to his successor. On this occasion, Ritmeester van de Kamp decided to leave the KLM Executive Board, although he remained a Commissioner.

Ritmeester van de Kamp became a treasurer of the Dutch Center of Directors and Supervisory Directors (NCD) in 1961. In 1964 he became Vice-President and in the period 1966 to 1970 he was chairman of the NCD. Later he became an honorary member of this organization.

In 1973, Ritmeester van de Kamp came into the news by his role in plans to demolish the Dutch Manege on the Vondelstraat in Amsterdam. He called as chairman of the association 'The Dutch Manege' on a decision of that association to move the riding school to the Amsterdam Forest. As there was no vote and there was no attendance list, official decision could not be taken. The demolition did not go through and in 1977 he resigned as president.

Ritmeester van de Kamp came back to the news in 1976, this time through his role in 1974 when selling the castle of Warmelo from Prince Bernhard to Tibor Rosenbaum.

In 1976, Rhythm of the Camp became chairman of the Board for Casino Games.

In June 2001, he retired after 30 years as a commissioner and adviser to the Okura Hotel in Amsterdam. Other companies where he has been (president) include Royal Packaging Industry of Leather, DSM and Royal Wessanen.

Joop Ritmeester of the Camp died at the age of 84.
