Panjang is an island in the Moluccas in Indonesia. It is 20 km² wide and barely exceeds sea level. There are only two mammals, the couscous Spilocuscus maculatus, probably introduced long ago, and the bat Pteropus chrysoproctus.
In Indonesian is called the island of Pulau Panjang, which means "long island". "Pulau" means "island" and "panjang" means "long".
Panjang is located on the coast of Fak-Fak and was a viewing point to the rest of the Moluccas. The Dutch soldiers then had a shooting disc at the southern point.
On the west side is a very beautiful beach. There is a holiday home. Used at weekends by wealthy faxers. On the east side, very dangerous currents. This side is used by Japanese factory ships to process fish supplied by Korean fishermen. There are also deer and wild boar.
