The President of the Philippines is the head of state and the head of the government of the Philippine Republic. The president chairs all executive departments and ensures the strict implementation of legislation. In addition, the president is the chief commander of all the forces of the Philippines. The president also appoints people in positions of head of an executive department, ambassador, consul, minister and senior officers of the armed forces.

According to Article VII, Section 2 of the 1987 current constitution, the following conditions are required to become President of the Philippines: The candidate

The president is elected directly by the people. The candidate with the most votes is elected president. If two candidates receive the same number of votes, the Philippine Congress will choose the new president by voting.
