Árpád Pottery

Árpád Fazekas (Kámon, 23 June 1930) is a former Hungarian footballer. He played in Belgium for RSC Anderlecht and KVK Tienen. Career

Árpád Fazekas was a Hungarian goalkeeper. He started his football career at MTK Hungária FC. There he played two seasons before leaving for Bayern Munich. In Germany he became a regular player and in the history of the club he is placed in the same line as other big goalkeepers such as Sepp Maier, Oliver Kahn and Jean-Marie Pfaff.

In 1957 Bayern Munich won the first DFB Cup of its existence. Bayern did not belong until the absolute summit of Germany or Europe, which would come later. In 1961 the goalkeeper moved to KSV Hessen Kassel, where he remained only one season. In 1962, the goalkeeper moved to Belgium, where he signed a contract with RSC Anderlecht. Fazekas played almost at Anderlecht, because at the Brussels club Jean Trappeniers was the unquestionable number one at that time. It is remarkable that Fazekas in the European matches was favored by Trappeniers. In the Europacup I from 1962-1963 he played five of the six games. Anderlecht turned out Real Madrid and CDNA Sofia in that tournament.

In 1964, Fazekas left the club and stood out with some foreign clubs. After that he returned to Belgium to play at KVK Tienen. Also see
