Hr.Ms. Delfzijl (1983)


The Hr.Ms. Delfzijl (M 851) was a Dutch mining hunter of the Alkmaar class and the first ship, by the Dutch navy, named after the Groningen city of Delfzijl. The ship was built by the Van der Giessen-Noord shipyard in Alblasserdam.

In 2000, the ship was able to be sold for sale to the Baltic state of Latvia in the year 2000. The sale of the Delfzijl was not on its own. Besides the Delfzijl, the Harlingen, Alkmaar, Dordrecht and Scheveningen were also sold. At the Latvian Navy, the ship serves as Visvaldis under the name M-07.
