Annette Jacoba (Other) Mooij (1961) is a Dutch researcher and writer who publishes mainly on historical sociological subjects. Life and work
After having obtained her atheneum diploma in Groningen, Mooij studied psychology at the University of Groningen and Radboud University Nijmegen. After that she became an assistant in education at the Amsterdam School of Social Sciences, a part of the University of Amsterdam. In 1993 she graduated in the social sciences at Abram de Swaan and Piet de Rooy for a dissertation on genital diseases and contagious anxiety in the period 1850-1990. She then worked with the Amsterdam research company Diopter until she founded her own research agency in 1998. Mooij was a member of the editorial board of the Biographical Dictionary of the Netherlands from 2000 to 2008. Since 2002 she is editor of the cultural magazine De Gids.
