VOC order

The VOC order (Verb-Object-Subject) is an unusual order of words and phrases in the languages of the world, with the object behind the personal form but for the subject.

The VOS sequence is a lot less common than the word sequences where the subject is for the object. The fact that the object gets as much or even more emphasis than the subject is probably associated with the fact that many languages with a VOC order are ergonomic, thus treating the subject and the object as equivalent phrases.

The VOC sequence comes as a standard standard in Austronesian languages and some Mayas. Also see
