Charles Léopold Laurillard (Montbéliard, January 21, 1783 - Paris, 1853) was a French naturalist.

His father died when he was 13 and, although of humble origins, he could continue his studies at the college. In 1803 he moved to Paris and the following year met Frédéric Cuvier, Georges's brother, also a naturalist; he assumed Laurillard at the National Natural History Museum of France, where he became Georges Cuvier's personal secretary; he remained working at the Museum even after the death of the latter in 1832. He wrote several comparative anatomy works and first described various genres and species. Bibliografiamodifica wikitesto
