Gerardsmolen

The Gerardsmolen is a grain mill in Wippelgem (Evergem). This mountain mill replaced an earlier strike mill in the same place, which had been a mill since 1645. The old mill was replaced by Mulder Gerard Neyt in 1864, from which time the mill was called Gerardsmolen. It is a necklace that was assisted by a rose mill until 1870 during times of wind. In 1870 the rowing mill was replaced by a steam engine. The Gerardsmolen was in operation until about 1940 and subsequently decayed. The municipality bought the mill in the 1960s. After the blow of the mill in November 1982, it was restored. A restoration of 2002-2003 made the mill again measurable. The mill is regularly operated by volunteers of the association "De Gerardsmolen". Also see 51° 8′ 14″ NB, 3° 43′ 54″ OL
