Jan van Schotland

Jan van Schotland, Count of Huntingdon, also known as Jan de Schot (c.1207 - June 6, 1237) was Count of Huntingdon from 1219 until his death, and also fulfilled the function of the magistrate of Chester. He was a son of David of Scotland, Count of Huntingdon and Maud, daughter of Hugo de Kevolioc.

Jan married Elen Llywelyn, a daughter of Llywelyn the Great around 1222. Jan followed his father as a Count of Huntingdon in 1219, and in 1232 the title of Count of Chester came. After serving as a magistrate there, he obtained Chester through inheritance, because his uncle Ranulf died the Blondeville (a brother of Jan's mother) without posterity. Jan died on June 6, 1237 in Darnhall, Cheshire without any offspring, around the age of ± 30 years. He was buried in Chester Cathedral. The inheritance of Chester was sold and Huntingdon was attracted to the kingdom. The title 'Count of Huntingdon' was reinstated in 1337 for Willem de Clinton.
