John Mackey (Bishop)


John Mackey (Bray, January 11, 1918 - Auckland, January 20, 2014) was bishop of Roman Catholic Bishop Auckland, New Zealand.

Mackey was born on January 11, 1918, in Bray, Ireland. He was priest dedicated on November 23, 1941. On April 25, 1974, he was appointed as bishop. He was then bishop dedicated by Pope Paul VI and Cardinals Giovanni Benelli and Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy on June 30, 1974. Mackey joined Emeritat on January 1, 1983. He passed away in 2014 at the age of 96.
