Marc De Clercq


Marc De Clercq (Aalst, 1951) is a Belgian economist and professor at Ghent University. He was Vice-Rector of Ghent University between 2001 and 2004 and before that, dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. He is chairman of the Department of General Economics and the Center for Environmental Economics and Environmental Management, and teaches, as a professor, among others, first-year students Economics and Rights an introduction to the economy. He worked as a counselor for several national and international institutions, including the European Union, the King Baudouin Foundation, the Ministry of the Environment, the Public Flemish Waste Society, Aquafin, the OECD. He is a member of the Board of Editors of Environmental and Resource Economics and was chairman of the Milkacresch Chancellor Committee from 1993 to 1998.

He is author of four books and numerous scientific contributions in domestic and foreign magazines and held lectures to several foreign institutions.

At the federal elections of June 10, 2007, De Clercq announced a place in the Chamber. He was seventh on the CD & V / N-VA list of East Flanders but did not get elected. Since 2009, Marc De Clercq has served as CD & V board member of the Flemish Audiovisual Council. Since 2010 he is a member of the board of directors of the VRT.

On December 14, 2008, De Clercq was re-elected as dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business for the period 2008-2010.

On 7 December 2016 he held his last lecture at Ghent University. Externe link
