Plantage (Schiedam)

The park

The Plantage, a park in the south-Holland city of Schiedam, is located between the Lange Nieuwstraat and the Garden Avenue. It was built in 1767 by city architect Arij van Bol'es. The area was at that time the green zone on the outskirts of Schiedam. In 1826, the Plantage was refurbished under the guidance of landscaping Jan David Zocher.

From August 2011 to April 2012, the north-western part of the Plantage has been refurbished. By removing a intersecting junction, Jan van Luijn's liberation monument is again part of the park. Also, the parking spaces and the plantage dating from the 1950s have been removed from the Plantage.

The park has a large number of artwork. Externe link 51° 54′ 41″ NB, 4° 24′ 14″ OL
