Roel Sterckx


Roel Sterckx (胡 司 德), (1969) is a Belgian-British sinologist.

Sterckx obtained his bachelor and master in the sinology between 1987 and 1991 at the Catholic University of Leuven. From 1989 he also completed the PGCE / Agrégation History in Leuven. Between 1991 and 1993 he studied philosophy at the National Taiwan University and in 1997 he obtained his PhD in Orientalism at Cambridge University.

Roel Sterckx is a professor of Chinese at the University of Cambridge and Fellow of Clare College. From 2006 to 2012 he was the Secretary General of the European Association of Chinese Studies (歐洲 漢學 學會).
