Service bulletin

The Service Bulletin is a technical release issued by the holder of the Type Certificate of an Aeronautical Product (cell, engine, propeller or component).

The service bulletin introduces additional modifications and / or inspections to correct defects that have arisen after product certification or to improve its technical characteristics. The owner of the aircraft, after assessing the costs / benefits generated by the modification, decides at its discretion whether to apply them or not.

The builder assigns an urgency level to the bulletin using a numeric or synthetic scale (Optional, Recommended, Mandatory etc). Extremely urgent bulletins requiring immediate corrective action are defined as Alert Service Bulletin and are generally subject to Aeronautical Aviation Regulations (for ENAC and EASA).
