Digital Combat Simulator

Digital Combat Simulator is a study combat flight simulator developed by Eagle Dynamics who also developed the predecessor Lock On. The developer claims that the game will bring unprecedented realism to the consumer market, thanks to the experience and data they have gathered in developing simulations for military purposes. Modular design

Each new package released in the Digital Combat Simulator series always contains one controllable airplane. Multiplayer is compatible between different modules because the game engine is free to update to the latest version. For example, players only have to buy those packages they want to fly.

The first module released is Black Shark, to the Kamov Ka-50 that carries the same name. This module is scheduled for 2008 and every 9 months a new module will be released. The two following modules under development are the AH-64A Apache and A-10C Warthog. All these devices are ground-based aircraft, so Lock On has increased its level of detail and added new units including infantry.
