Friend of Merit is a psychological thriller by Thomas Rosenboom from 1985 of the Querido publishing house. The story is based on the Baarn murder case in the 1960s. The novel is about the murder of Theo Altink (in reality Theo Mastwijk) killed by the millionaire sons Pieter and Otto van Hal (Henny's brothers) and their friend Freddie (Hennie Werkhoven). The end of the book is essentially different from the true facts.
