Frits Hirschland

Frits Hirschland (24 December 1948 - Amsterdam, January 3, 1999) was a Dutch manager of popgroups and record producer. He was secretary / spokesman for the Surinamese Jungle Command of Ronnie Brunswijk in the 1980s.

Hirschland was the manager of the symphonic rock band Kayak from 1973 to 1981. From 1974 to 1976 he was also the manager of The Hammer, and in 1978 he became Manager of Earth & amp; Fire, Kaz Lux and Renée and the Alligators. In addition, he was a producer of several albums; not only of those bands, but for example of Ekseption and Status Quo. He also produced a Vanessa single.

In spring 1987 he would be approached at his home in La Boca near Cannes by keeping two members of the French and Israeli secret service in charge of the request in East Suriname. One of them knew of a diving course. "Commander Pencil"

In October 1987, Hirschland joined the Junglecommando, founded in 1986 in East Surinam, where he acted as secretary and spokesman. His nickname became "Commandant Pencil". There are indications that he actually acted as a contact for the French secret service. He also had contact with Dutch colonel B.d. Bas van Tussenbroek from 1988, culminating in Cayenne's money for humanitarian aid in East Suriname, which came from Dutch development money through the Zeister Missionary Society (ZZG). The money for humanitarian aid usually came to the Jungle Command. After persistent criticism of the French pending attitude, Hirschland was declared persona non grata in French-Guyana in December 1988. He went to The Hague to advocate the jungle commando and weapons.

Hirschland returned to Suriname again and was briefly involved in the peace talks between Brunswick and Bouterse, but was then replaced by Eddie Jozefzoon. In September 1991 he finally returned to the Netherlands. He kept in touch with ex-members of the Junglecommando in the Netherlands.

In 1994, Hirschland wrote in the Weekrant Suriname that Colonel Van Tussenbroek had been the key figure in the actions of foreign intelligence services in Suriname. In August of that year, he declared in the Green Amsterdammer that he had offered 8 million guilders Desi Bouterse in 1991 on behalf of the Intelligence Service International (IDB) to move it to Brazil. The money should have been from Gladio Operation Funds. Also, according to Hirschland, in 1981, Hans van Mierlo would have thrown into a deal with the new rulers of Suriname, and committed military service and training of the Surinamese military intelligence.

Hirschland died at the age of 50 at the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam. As a cause of suicide, suicide was given. He was buried in The Hague on January 8, 1999. Bibliography
