Jim Root of Slipknot at the Mayhem festival
Jim Root, official James Donald Root or shorter James D. Root (Des Moines, Iowa October 2, 1971), was the lead guitarist of Stone Sour and is one of Slipknot's lead guitarists.
At Slipknot, where the band members each have a number and mask, he is also known as # 4. He replaced Josh Brainard in 1999. He played on the Slipknot album only with the songs 'Me Inside' and 'Purity'. Jim also plays in the band "Stone Sour" along with singer Corey Taylor.
Although he is left-handed while writing, he plays right-handed guitar. He is the biggest member of both bands (1m 98). He has problems with lead guitarist Mick Thomson.
