OverClocked ReMix

OverClocked ReMix, also known as OC ReMix and OCR, is a nonprofit organization designed to preserve and pay homage to video game music by rearranging and reinterpreting the pieces with new technologies or traditional tools. The web site offers thousands of fan-made re-arrangements, information about video game soundtracks and its composers, aspirant artist resources, and a discussion forum.

The site's webmaster is David W. Lloyd (nicknamed "djpretzel"), which coined the word "ReMix" to refer to a reinterpretation, as opposed to "remix", which usually involves changes to original material. The ambiguity of the term "ReMix" is not intended, since the purpose of the organization is to give a new interpretation of the original themes and not to alter or plagiarize the work of others.

Lloyd gave birth to the organization in December 1999 under the name of "DJ Pretzel's OverClocked ReMix", a branch of OverClocked, a site dedicated to its 3D online comics. Since then the site has expanded, changing graphics a few times and domain. Lloyd registered OverClocked ReMix as a Limited Liability Company (LLC) in 2007.

The site collects about 2000 "ReMix", made by over 500 "ReMixer". The musical genres represented are the most varied. ReMix can be downloaded individually or in BitTorrent packages, all for free, and are released under a non-commercial policy.
